Arsenal SC '99 RL wins the U11, 2009-2010 Utah State Cup!!!!!

Arsenal SC '99 RL wins the 2009-2010 Utah soccer State Cup in the U11 category after defeating La Roca Premier 2-1 in a very exciting soccer game Saturday, October 24, 2009.

The Arsenal '99 RL is the first team ever that wins Utah's State Cup for Arsenal SC.

The team has been invited to participate in several National soccer tournaments as a result of winning Utah's State Cup.

Arsenal SC '99 RL has won six out of the seven tournaments in which it has participated beginning this Summer, 2009 -- to include this State Cup and the Sparta Cup/Tournament.  They came in second place in the only final they lost this summer, at the Park City tournament.

Arsenal SC '99 RL beat Rampage 5-1 in the U11, 2009 Utah State Cup, soccer semi final game today in Orem, Utah in a very exciting game.




Matt scored two goals, while Brandon, Luis and Jason each scored one goal for the Arsenal SC in today's game.



We will be playing the final game, for the State Cup against La Roca this Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Lakeside Sports Complex in Orem, Utah.



This will be the seventh consecutive final Arsenal '99 RL would play this season, having won 5 out of the 6 finals they have already played.

Arsenal 99 RL wins Sparta United Cup

Arsenal 99 RL (former Champions FC and my son Diego's current team) won the Sparta United Cup for the second year in a row over the weekend by defeating USA 4-2 after being down 2-0 during the first half of the game, in Salt Lake, Utah.

New tile work done!

My Dad just finished installing new tile work in our laundry room and adding some finishing touches to our wood floors (which he also installed) too!

2009 UBBA Baseball State Tournament

Here's an image from last week's 2009 Utah Boys Baseball Association -- UBBA -- Pinto State Tournament at the Manila Ball Park, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The Lehi Pirates took first place. Blanding Angels, second place. Pleasant Grove A’s -- Athletics --, third place. Pleasant Grove Braves, fourth place.

I finally completed a round trip around the mountain!

I finally completed a round trip around the mountain, beginning at the bottom of Grove Creek trail, up to Indian Springs, and down the other side of the mountain, at Battle Creek trails, both above Pleasant Grove, Utah.

The trip took me 4 hours and 10 minutes, as I had to walk another 20 minutes from the bottom of Battle Creek to where I had parked my car (at the bottom of Grove Creek!)

Diego just cut his hair and I wanted to get a newer portrait / headshot of him. I like his very short hair cuts!

High up Dry Canyon Trail - Uinta National Forest, Utah

I tried to go from the bottom of Battle Creek Trail, in Pleasant Grove, up to Dry Creek Trail, to Grove Creek Trail, down to Pleasant Grove again on this last trail. It seems I took one wrong turn (on an unmarked trail) and ended up at the top of a different mountain (the "G" mountain). Good thing I had been to the top of said mountain and I knew my way down from there. For some time, however, I was on the East, shadowy side of the mountain, amongst low, thick trees and high grasses, with no trail.

The photo above shows the point where I took the trail I was not expecting to take.

These trails are all in the Uinta National Forest (of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest), comprised of 871,237 acres, located in north central Utah, southeast of Salt Lake City.

Freedom 3v3 Soccer Tournament - Provo, Utah

Day one of the Freedom 3v3 Soccer Tournament in Provo, Utah. It was a great, sunny, beautiful day in Provo, full of awesome "football" (or soccer, as it is called here). Our team, Arsenal FC "RL" -- to be U11 the upcoming season -- did quite well. We lost game one versus "USA" and won our next two games versus Rangers teams. "We" will be playing again tomorrow, July 4th at about noon.

Arsenal SC 99 "RL" wins 3v3 soccer tournament and parades at Rio Tinto Stadium

This Saturday (06/27/09) Diego's new team, the Arsenal Soccer Club 99 "RL" won Real Salt Lake's (RSL) first ever 3v3 soccer tournament in their current, U9/U10 category and got to parade RSL's Rio Tinto Stadium during RSL v Toronto FC half time, in Sandy, Utah.

In the photograph above, Luis leads the team onto the field, followed by Jason, Matt, Diego and coach Jorge Valdizan.

Views from the mountains -- Wasatch Mountains above Pleasant Grove, Utah

Just in case somebody wonders why we live in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and why I chose to travel back to California to photograph weddings and special events -- instead of simply living in Southern California. Here's one of the reasons. These trails, and the views from said trails, are at walking distance from our house. No traffic.

There are some gorgeous mountains (the Wasatch Mountains) and hiking trails very close to where we now live, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I used to go up to the "G" mountain, the Battle Creek trail (up and past the waterfall) and the Boneville Shoreline trails, recently, until somebody pointed out the Grove Creek trails, also starting at and overlooking Pleasant Grove. I am now hiking said trails whenever I can, and taking "some" pictures of the beauty I can find there, which is plenty.
