I've had a good life, he says. Especially when I was younger, up North. I used to have 16 dogs. We used to go hunt the seal. Massio, of the Innu people of Northern Quebec. He has been homeless for 20 years. He tenido una buena vida, nos dice. Especialmente cuando era joven, alla en el norte. Tenia 16 perros. Cazabamos focas. Massio, de las tribus "Innus" del norte de Quebec, Canada. El es una persona "sin techo" desde hace 20 años.

Yesterday, September 21, 2014 I begun my "Street portraits -- people of Montreal" series with a portrait of Massio, a homeless person, of the Northern Quebec Innu people. Here are the images I selected. Ayer, septiembre 21 del 2014, comence my serie de "Retratos de la calle -- gente de Montreal" con un retrato de Massio, indigena "sin techo" de las tribus de los "Innus" del norte de Quebec, Canada. Aqui estan las imagenes que seleccione. Massio tells me he’s been homeless for about twenty years. He is now 50 years old. 50 years old, been homeless for about 20 years. Really difficult to go back up North. He suffers from type 2 diabetes and schizophrenia, he tells me. He does not take his medication as he should – he needs 4 shots of insulin a day he says – preferring to watch his diet as much as possible, or to drink plenty of water when he feels his sugar levels going up. He does not like to go to clinics or to be assisted by the healthcare workers that tend to the homeless on the street. People are good to him he adds. They even gave him a sleeping bag. He gets plenty of money and food he tells me. He does not sleep in shelters. He is solitary he says. He uses the type of cardboard with a shiny surface to lay on and garbage bags to cover himself from the cold. (It gets pretty warm with his own breath he says.) He eats well and sometimes he has bear with his food, but not bear alone. A tattoo on his hand shows the love for Sue, his 27 year-old daughter. He has a good smile he tells me. People like his smile he said. I’ve had a good life he says. I liked it better when I was younger, up North. I used to have 16 dogs. I used to go hunt seals with them. He likes it when people stay and chat with him.

"PAVÉ POÉSIE" at the Parc des Compagnons de Saint-Laurent -- Zema, artiste

It was a nice day to be at the park yesterday. Zema, a multi-disciplinary artist – painter, art director, illustrator and graphic designer – was spray-painting her commissioned graffiti art piece at the “Parc des Compagnons de Saint-Laurent” for the “PAVÉ POÉSIE” public new event being held along Mont-Royal Avenue from June 5 to June 8, 2014, together with Montreal’s Festival of Poetry. Here's an image of Zema, the artist at work: And here's an image of a section of the park where one can see more of her work, while she is still working at it. And here's some information about her, in French: "Provenant de la grande région du Nord-du-Québec, Zema parcouru toute la belle province avant de s’établir définitivement à Montréal, où elle y habite depuis une dizaine d’années. Zema est une artiste multi-disciplinaire, outre que la peinture, elle est une directrice artistique, illustratrice et designer graphique. La réalité déformée, l’humour noir et ses personnages extravagants l’ont amené vers divers projets dans plusieurs domaines, en web, imprimé et en post-production! Cette artiste touche à tout et elle est une des rares artiste féminine à s’être lancé dans le graffiti, d’où lui provient le nom «Zema». La participation à plusieurs expositions ici et à l’extérieur du pays lui ont permis de voyager et de partager des idées créatives avec différentes scènes artistiques. En 2004, elle a mit sur pied un collectif de graffiti et street art appelé “La Paria”, regroupant plus de 25 artistes établis. Montréal, avril 2014 — La réputation d’Éric Goulet en tant qu’auteur-compositeur n’est plus à faire. Depuis ses débuts avec Possession simple, jusqu’aux magnifiques bombes de la formation Les Chiens et les albums de Monsieur Mono, Goulet se tourne vers le country en 2011 avec le fort bien reçu Volume 1. Le voici qu’il récidive avec Volume 2, disponible le 19 mai prochain sur étiquette L-Abe. Son président Louis-Armand Bombardier, qui considère Goulet comme un pilier de la musique québécoise, s’est d’ailleurs dit particulièrement heureux et fier de le compter maintenant parmi les artistes de son étiquette.

Éric Goulet sera en spectacle le 24 mai prochain à La Vitrola, nouvelle salle située au 4602 St-Laurent.
Sur Volume 2, Éric Goulet, à n’en point douter, un des plus brillants et talentueux auteur-compositeur de sa génération revisite avec panache deux chansons-phares de son répertoire, dont son classique Comme un cave et Dernière chanson qui renaissent en versions « countrifiées » en plus de l’intemporelle Lucille, classique du country québécois popularisé par Tex Lecor en 1977, mais il présente surtout plusieurs chansons originales dont La grande évasion, sur un texte d’Alexandre Bélliard et, possiblement un futur classique, Le trou de ma guitare !

Ayant toujours su bien s’entourer, Goulet est toujours accompagné des guitaristes Carl Prévost et Rick Hayworth, de la violoniste Ariane Ouellet, du bassiste Marc Hébert et du batteur Vincent Carré en plus d’avoir invité le grand Guy Bélanger et son harmonica sur Comme un cave.

De 1986 à 1996, Éric Goulet, est chanteur et guitariste de la formation Possession Simple qui fait paraitre deux albums avant de se séparer. Goulet fonde ensuite Les Chiens en 1997 au même moment où il entreprend une carrière de réalisateur qui le verra travailler avec entre autres, Yann Perreau, WD-40, Vincent Vallières et Alexandre Belliard. Les Chiens lancent en 2001 l’album La nuit dérobée qui remportera le Félix de l’album alternatif de l’année.

Durant les années 2000, Goulet poursuit en parallèle une carrière solo et sort deux albums sous le pseudonyme de Monsieur Mono qui connaitront un succès inattendu. Sous son propre nom il fait paraitre l’album Volume 1 en 2011 aux sonorités plus country.

I don't know about you, but I loooove the fresh, vibrant greens we can enjoy during early springs!  I know.  It might be a bit too late to be talking about "early spring" -- we are in May! -- but spring has arrived a bit late to Montreal (Quebec)!

No se vos, pero a mi me encantan los verdes -- frescos y vibrantes -- de la temprana primavera!  Y se que es un poco tarde para hablar de "temprana primavera" -- estando en Mayo! -- pero la primavera ha llegado un poquito tarde a Montreal (Quebec) este año!
